Andres Molteni, Igor Andreev proceed to the main draw – Copa Claro 2012 
Andres Molteni defeats Facundo Arguello 5-7, 6-3, 6-4
Argentinean competitor, Andres Molteni, fought back after losing the first set and battled past his compatriot, Facundo Arguello, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the final qualifier at the Copa Claro tournament in Buenos Aires on Monday.
The match lasted for two hours and 33 minutes.
Molteni came roaring into the opener, breaking Arguello in the second game and winning his own serve in the next game to enjoy a 3-0 lead. However, the Argentine lost the momentum after that and Arguello captured last five
games of the set to triumph 7-5.
Molteni and Arguello started steadily in the following set, as none of the two was broken in the first seven games, taking the score to 4-3 with the former leading. Molteni snatched a break in the next game and served out
the set at 5-3.
Ranked 237th in the world, Molteni captured the opening two games of the decider to move ahead 2-0. The Argentinean maintained his lead until the end, winning the set 6-4.
Molteni is pitted against top seed, David Ferrer of Spain in the first round of the main draw.
Igor Andreev beats Paul Capdeville 7-6(8), 6-3
World number 118 Igor Andreev prevailed over 127th ranked, Paul Capdeville, in straight sets to reach the main draw. Andreev outplayed his Chilean opponent 7-6(8), 6-3 in an hour and 40 minutes.
Capdeville and Andreev were unable to break each throughout the set, taking it to a tie-breaker round. The Russian, Andreev, lost a set point at 6-5, levelling the score at 6-6. He succeeded in converting the third set point,
claiming a tough tie-break 10-8.
Andreev served superbly, firing seven aces and claiming 22 of the 29 first serve points. He did not hit any double fault in the opener. On the other hand, Capdeville did not deliver any ace and committed one double fault.
In the second set, Andreev continued from where he left in the opener. The Russian did not let his opponent loose, breaking him in the sixth game and holding his serve in the next to snatch a 5-2 lead. Capdeville reduced
Andreev’s advantage to 5-3 but failed to make any further impact, losing 3-6. The Russian utilised one of the three break point opportunities he acquired in the second set.
Andreev will take on Blaz Kavcic of Slovakia in the opening match of the main round.
