Mexico’s Andres Quadri-Nydia Gonzalez showed great coordination in playoff match of XXI Pan Am Junior Team Event and outclassed Samuel Ricketts-Katherine Wynter on July 24, 2012.
This Mixed Doubles encounter lasted for 21 minutes and both contenders entertained the local crowd with an admirable show of skills at Sherwood Park in Alberta, Canada.
Though, this battle was resolved in just two games but still both teams snapped at each other’s heels while piling up decisive figures of 23-21 and 21-15.
The Mexican pair’s hard work paid off and they emerged as champion by registering a splendid straight-set win.
Andres Quadri and Nydia Gonzalez laid foundation of their victory by surviving a nerve-racking tussle straight away in the opening game.
In the first half, they remained at lower end in the beginning but then a powerful campaign after 5-7 helped them to gain a decent advantage before the interval. They carried this rhythm all the way to half time and placed a respectable total of 11-9.
Later part of the game saw the Jamaican shuttlers stepping forward and narrowing the gap at score position of 17-16.
They mounted pressure by clinching four points in a row but they could not go with the same flow in the final stage of the set.
They committed some unforced errors which allowed the Mexican players to regain their authority.
Andres Quadri and Nydia Gonzalez bagged five out of ending seven points and wrapped opening segment with favourable figure of 23-21.
They maintained this pace in second set of the match and stamped their supremacy with a significant difference of six points in final result.
They got into commanding position with 5-3 and then doubled the impact by registering 8-3 margin in no time. This intensive campaign pushed their challengers on the back-foot and they never came out of this deficit.
The twosome of Andres and Nydia prevailed in some back-to-back rallies and reached at decent score position of 11-6 before half time.
Later part of the game completely belonged to them as they did not give their opponents even a single chance to come back and blew them away with an overwhelming total of 21-15.
