Andres Torres fundamental to running wins in for Giants
USA Today recently released a study focusing on the San Francisco Giants, who will be meeting the Texas Rangers in a competition for the greatest prize in Major League Baseball; the World Series. With a few days left till the first
encounter, it has to be seen which team will beat the other in a head to head battle. The two teams will be bringing in their best players to the pitch and knowing how the ball clubs have waited for the opportunity, the games will be, certainly, interesting.
The post season has shown a major chunk of amazing exhibition play in the park, and if the managers focus on these attributes, a winner can be determined.
The Rangers have a long list of players on their good list but the Giants have a selective range. Centre fielder, Andres Torres is one of those players who can deliver the team with the much needed early push. The 32 year old is
currently injured and that damage was sustained in the 6th game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship. Manager Bruce Bochy has confirmed that the hard hitter is doing much better and has also hinted at an early feature
on Wednesday’s game 1.
Torres is considered a master runner and his 26 base steals for the team’s collective 55 speaks volume. He is on a mini multi–hit streak which has been under progression since August 24th. He is currently doing well
in the post season, playing on a .250 hitting average and 14 strike outs in 36 at bats.
"I feel great. I just had to be more patient. I was so anxious at the plate, I wasn't seeing the ball. So I had to calm down, said the centre fielder when filling the reporters in with his injury update. In addition to this the
player went on to detail his view on playing pitchers: “Whether it's Lee (Texas Ranger’s Cliff Lee) pitching or whoever, you need to see some pitches and relax. When you get anxious and want so bad to get a big hit, that's not going to help you.”
