Andrew Bishop signs contract extension with Ospreys
Key centre Andrew Bishop has signed a two-year extension to his current contract at Ospreys.
The 25-year-old Wales international is now committed to the Magners League champions until at least 2014. Bishop is one of the most important players in the club and has made 130 appearances since his
debut in February 2005.
"It's no secret that I've been a big fan of Andrew's for a long time. He has certainly developed over the last few years into a true international-class player. This contract is a just reward for the progress
he has made," head coach Sean Holley said.
This is fantastic news for the club because Bishop has many qualities that will make him an important player over the next few seasons. Staying at the club will enhance Bishop's Wales international ambitions.
Many qualities
Bishop is a well built and strong individual. This is key for any centre player and it means Bishop is able to compete in the middle of the field against aggressive sides.
His short passing and kicking game is the best in the club. This is important in both attack and defence. It can set up numerous chances to score but can take the pressure away from the back of the team.
Ambition and hunger is important for players with international ambitions. Bishop will be able to aim for a regular Wales place now that he has given his future to the best club in the country. These qualities
can also rub off on other players.
"He is a model for any young player out there who aspires to play international rugby. He's come up through the system, he's played junior rugby, he's played in the (Welsh) Premiership, and when his opportunities
have come along, he's made sure he has taken them,"
added Holley.
