Andrew Bogut believes Sydney Kings’ Julian Khazzouh has the potential to become an NBA player
Milwaukee Bucks centre Andrew Bogut who is in his native country Australia these days has touted Sydney Kings centre Julian Khazzouh as a potential NBA player and believes that the young superstar is one of the best bigs out there
in the Australian league.
On Friday night, while playing against the Adelaide 36ers on the road, the 25-year-old Julian Khazzouh led from the front, racking up 26 points and 13 rebounds to propel Sydney Kings to a 94-71 rout.
This was only one of the many stupendous performances the young Aussie centre has pulled off so far this season.
Although Khazzouh has proved his mettle, however the transition from National Basketball League (NBL) to National Basketball Association (NBA) is very tough. In the American league comprised of some of the world’s finest players,
the ball game changes completely.
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Bogut fully understands the competitiveness and toughness required in NBA. He was roped in as the number one pick himself, but his journey so far has been affected by a spate of injuries. This is the reason;
Bogut thinks that Julian needs to take his game to the next level;
''The transition is very tough and there's a reason for that. Khazzouh has a chance but he has to put on a lot more size to go to the NBA. He needs some bulk. He gets away with it in the NBL because there's no true centres and
he's the most talented guy we've got here.'' Andrew Bogut said.
In his short NBL career, Khazzouh has gathered a number of achievements and the last season was an epic success for the Australian superstar.
During the 2010-2011 season, Julian Khazzouh registered a career-high 29 points, clutched a career-best 17 rebounds and was named in the All-NBL Team. In the beginning of the season, a pool of nine best NBL coaches voted Julian
second for the Most Valuable Player award and the prolific centre was also ranked second favourite to feature in the NBL first team.
If the Kings’ star decides to take his talent to the National Basketball Association, he will be the third Australian after Andrew Bogut and Portland Trail Blazers’ Patrick Mills to make the cut. Given the position he plays at
and his undeniable talent in the low post, he certainly will have many takers.
