Andrew Bogut of Golden State Warriors out indefinitely: NBA News
Golden State Warriors centre Andrew Bogut has waived off the hype related to his return and recently revealed that the ankle surgery he had on 27th April this year was much more serious than previously reported. He will be out
a lot much longer than previously expected, indefinitely as per the Warriors.
His ankle was fractured way back in January when he was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and could not play the rest of last season before being traded to Golden State Warriors for shooting guard Monta Ellis. Bogut had a micro fracture
surgery performed on his ankle to clean out loose particles and bone spurs. This type of surgery has a very long and delicate healing process and you can never really put a solid timeline on when it will be fully healed.
Warriors themselves were not sure about it. As recently as last week, they were saying that Bogut will return to the practice sessions soon enough, may be even join them on Monday. But it was not to be. Bogut was also hoping to
recover in time but finally grew tired off all the speculations about him;
"We don't want to fool anybody, anymore," Bogut said. "We don't want to keep creating a little bit of excitement of, 'Hey, Andrew might be playing Saturday. It might be Monday. He's back.”
He has been trying his level best to regain game fitness levels as soon as possible and reportedly spent few days in Los Angeles with Dr. Richard Ferkel, the same doctor that performed the surgery.
There were talks of him returning this Monday before the revelation, now they are some rumours about him missing the entire season. When he was asked if the micro fracture surgery has caused more harm than good to which he replied
"Of course it did. One hundred percent, without that procedure, I'm at eight weeks” he added “But my procedure was obviously much more detailed than that”.
But he is hungry to play and hopes to start playing as soon as possible
“I don't think it's going to be another six months. That would be a massive setback. I'm not going to say a month, two months or three months, but I definitely think I'll be back to play again this season."
