Andrew Bogut on the crossroads – NBA Update
If one tries to cadre the most unfortunate players in NBA, Andrew Bogut will certainly top the charts.
Irony is not a new word to be associated with this Big Australian athlete; being the No. 1 overall pick in 2005 he had not played a full season since his rookie year. The 27 years old Milwaukee Bucks centre is commonly known as “injury-prone Andrew Bogut.”
He had been the victim of most unfortunate events that included never-ending injuries such as sprained left foot, dislocated right elbow a broken right hand along with wrist sprain and most recently a fractured ankle.
Unlike most of the players he is not yearning for a trade that encompasses a better salary cap or a happening bigger city he just want to get rid of his never ending injuries.
One of the most recent injuries was on Jan. 25th in the match against Houston Rockets, Bucks won the game comfortably 105-99 but lost their centre early in the 1st frame as he got tangled and was earlier diagnosed with a sprained ankle. Later
on the same day he was seen wearing a boot.
However detailed examination revealed much dire nature of injury, he fractured his left ankle and was forced to stay off the court indefinitely.
Andrew would never be able to get 100% again this is as good as it is going to get for him.
It’s a frustrating injury because you don’t know the extent of it,” said Bogut, who will have another ankle scan in two or three weeks. “If we made the playoffs, I would like to be back. But at the same time, with these injuries you have to be 100%. You
come back at 80%, then you have an Achilles’ problem or a calf problem. As opposed to the elbow, where I knew I wasn’t coming back 100%”.
He had been averaging 11.3 points, 8.3 boards and 2.6 assists per game and most certainly he played a cardinal role for Bucks, with the trade dead line approaching he is also in the rumour factory.
He has the potential to transform a struggling team even with his elbow; the towering player can devise an impervious defence. One such team looking for a strong defence is Golden State Warriors who have a perfect slot opened for him.
Warriors like many others are trying to land Dwight Howard on their bench and they are also in negotiations with DeAndre Jordan but they haven’t met much success so far and the chances to do so are bleak.
Moreover it has been learnt that Andrew Bogut has extended a requisition to Milwaukee’s front office for a trade so Golden State should take advantage, as his injuries would shave off his trade value. This will help the struggling athlete to start fresh
and Warriors will get the strength they seek.
