Andrew Bogut progressing well with recovery but team refuses to give timeline for return – NBA News
The Golden State Warriors have had a great start to the preseason, winning five of the first 6 games to be placed at the top of the Western Conference. They are looking like an impressive unit on the floor, and have proven that they can also be playoff contenders next season in a Western Conference that is looking tougher than ever before.
However, for the Warriors to achieve their aims and compete with the other teams in the West, they need their star player Andrew Bogut back in action. And so far, there is no news on when he will be able to return to the team.
Bogut underwent surgery on his left ankle back in April, and has since been rehabbing from his injury. So far, he has not participated in any full contact scrimmage with the team during training camp, nor has he played in any of the preseason games. Although Bogut had earlier said that he would be healthy and ready in time for the regular season, the Warriors are yet to give any timeline for his return with the regular season a little over a week away.
“Warriors center Andrew Bogut met with Dr. Richard Ferkel at the team’s practice in Los Angeles earlier today (October 20). Dr. Ferkel concluded that Andrew is continuing to make progress on the rehabilitation schedule that was outlined immediately following his surgery and that there have been no setbacks. While the results of today’s examination were positive, the exact date of his return to full basketball activity has not been determined,” reported Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated.
Bogut is one of the most crucial players on the Warriors roster, and will need to play a big part next season if the team want a better finish than last season. Although there are no reasons to believe that Bogut will miss a considerable amount of games in the upcoming season, the Warriors must be hoping that he does not develop any complication in his recovery and is back on the court for the team as soon as humanly possible, so that he can contribute to the team and hold down the front court that is looking exposed without him.
