Andrew Bogut still not back to 100 percent as he starts for the Golden State Warriors – NBA News
The Golden State Warriors were one of the best teams in the preseason, and came into the regular season with a number of expectations and anticipations, hoping to make it to the playoffs this season. If the team wants to realize its potential and expectations, they need their core players to remain healthy for the whole of the season. And the team received their first blow of the season in that regard when their back up player Brandon Rush was sidelined for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL in his knee. Further, the Warriors big man Andrew Bogut is still recovering from a knee injury and is not back to his full form and fitness, although he has started playing with the team.
Bogut started for the Warriors on Monday night against the Sacramento Kings, a game that the Warriors lost. He played 5:16 in the first half and had four points and 1 block in that duration. He sat out the rest of the first half but returned in the second half and finished with 12 points for the night. Bogut is still recovering from his injury and is limited in his minutes and mobility. He talked to Matt Steinmetz of CSNBayArea.com and admitted that he is not right there with regards to fitness, and is hoping to be back into full swing soon.
I felt OK. I’m out there so it is what it is. I’m just trying to get through these next three to four weeks relatively sane,” said Bogut.
The Warriors have a game on Friday and then one on Sunday, and it is not sure yet if Bogut will play both those games. The team coaching staff realizes his value and do not want to risk further damage or injury. Hence, they are taking his return to the court one step at a time so that he is able to comfortably play through the season. After an impressive preseason run, the Warriors are 2-2 in the regular season after four games. If they are able to maintain a 0.5 winning percentage till the time Bogut returns to his full minutes, they would be in a good position to contend for the playoffs.
