Andrew Bynum, Gerald Henderson: Top contenders for the Most Improved Player award next NBA season
Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Kevin Love might not have won the battle of leading his team into the pay-offs. However the 23-year-old power forward Love did won the contest of NBA Most Improved Player by a huge margin.
While many players showed great improvement from last year, Kevin love registered a record of 53 consecutive double-doubles in the last season, which was his third year in NBA. After this, there was no second opinion to nominate
the award to some other player.
Now, when Kevin Love has earned the recognition of one of the best players in the league and the expectation from him will be sky-high in the next season, the NBA Most Improved Player award is going to transfer to someone else.
Here are the top contenders for one of the major NBA award.
Gerald Henderson
Charlotte Bobcats first round pick in 2009 NBA Draft, Gerald Henderson didn’t have an impressive first two season with the team. However the 23-year-old shooting guard Henderson is looking forward for a breakout season and he has
the talent to do so in 2011-2012.
Two major problems which hampered Gerald Henderson from giving his best were the number of games and playing minutes on the court. In the last two seasons, Gerald played only 111 games and also received average playing minutes
and as a result, Henderson was unable to show his talent.
Charlotte Bobcats will give him more opportunity in the next season and under those circumstances, his game is going to improve to a level which will make him eligible for the NBA Most Improved Player.
Andrew Bynum
Los Angeles Lakers big man Andrew Bynum is surrounded by players like Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom who earns maximum opportunity on the court. However, considering Lakers superstars trio is entering in the final stages
of their career and their aging body will require some rest during the games, a lot of responsibility will shift on the shoulders of talented centre Andrew Bynum and this is exactly what he needs at the moments to show the extent of his abilities and strength.
Seeing Andrew Bynum taking the charge for the Los Angeles Lakers in the next season, there is no doubt that his performance will lift upwards and he can be the next NBA Most Improved Player.
Evan Turner
Philadelphia 76ers second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft Evan Turner posted an average of 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the last season. For the Ohio State standout Evan Turner, first NBA season was more of knowing
the competiveness and prowess of the professional league as his potential is much more than what we have seen in the last season.
Philadelphia 76ers believes in their young shooting guard Turner and he proved his brilliance by winning the National Player of the Year award in 2010. Knowing that Evan Turner is not an ordinary guy making a shift in NBA and now
he has experienced the competiveness of the professional league, his performance is going to be far better than what he showed in the last season. This is why Sixers’ talented shooting guard Evan Turner is one of the top contenders to clinch the NBA Most Improved
Player award.
