Andrew Bynum eyeing to return on Christmas day against Miami Heat

Los Angeles Lakers centre Andrew Bynum’s return date was moved again and the 23-year old centre said that he is looking to return on December and most likely on their Christmas Day showdown
with the star-studded Miami Heat.

Bynum, who averaged 15 points and 8.3 rebounds in 65 games with the Lakers last season, was projected to return from a knee injury on Thanksgiving Day, but the five-year centre opted to move
it again as a precautionary measure.

“I'm not concerned with it,” said Bynum when asked about moving his return date again. “I'm just trying to get healthy, trying to get back. My big thing is just to be in the best shape I
can be when I get out there so nothing else happens. I don't want to have a setback or regress.”

Although he admitted that he is still bothered by his knee, Bynum has already started practicing with the team on Wednesday 17 November, although he did not participate in the team’s five-on-five
and full-court drills.

“It feels pretty good,” said Bynum after their practice. “Straight-line stuff, no lateral stuff yet. “If these workouts continue to go well, then hopefully I will be on time. But, if I get
soreness or something like that, you have to slow down a little bit.”

Without Bynum and injured backup centre Theo Ratliff, who underwent knee surgery and will be out for four to six weeks, the Lakers are looking for a short-term solution to their front-line
woes. Erick Dampier is reportedly in their radar, but Dampier’s health is making the Lakers reluctant to sign him.

According to reports, the Lakers are also interested in signing veteran centre Jake Voskuhl, who was invited by the Los Angeles Clippers in their training camp, but did not make the final
cut for this season.

“The Lakers are a great situation,” said Voskuhl’s agent Mark Bartelstein. “Any time they call, you're certainly going to listen. Hopefully something's going to happen.”

Bartelstein also added that the 33-year-old centre, Voskuhl, who has a career average of 4.9 points and 3.9 rebounds, is in good shape and can help the Lakers or any NBA team solve their
front-line woes. “He's stayed in shape. There's no doubt he can help an NBA team,” he said.
