Andrew Bynum to undergo experimental procedure on his knee – NBA Update
The newest member of the Philadelphia 76ers, Andrew Bynum has been troubled with knee problems throughout his 7 year career.
Coming into the summer, the former Los Angeles Lakers centre had recorded his first injury free season but to bring further ease to the niggling issue, Bynum is set to undergo an experimental procedure.
The big man will be in Germany where this procedure will be done. The non-surgical procedure known by the name of Orthokine/Regenokine will take place in the start of September and will make Bynum unavailable for training camp.
This particular procedure has reaped benefits for a few other athletes in the past. Former Lakers team-mate, Kobe Bryant, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy and Alex Rodriguez have all gone through the same procedure and have shown significant signs of improvement regarding their respective injuries.
Seeing by the progress Bryant made after having the procedure last season, Bynum hopes to have similar kind of success in his case. By going through the procedure, the big man would want to start fresh, free from all injuries with his new team, the Sixers.
Bynum has been traded over to Sixers with just one year remaining in his contract, a deal which involved Dwight Howard heading to LA from Orlando Magic. Coming in from his first ever injury free campaign, Bynum would like to improve his figures of 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds after taking part in 60 of 66 games of the short spanned last season.
The numbers he put up last season were his career best thus proving the fact that when injury free, Bynum can be a deadly force in the NBA.
He averaged double-double figures for the first time in his career  and earned a first ever All-Star appearance, but his exploits ended with an early exit by the hands of Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs.
