Andrew Bynum’s commitment to basketball questioned by former teammate – NBA News
Andrew Bynum has been having a hard time ever since he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the blockbuster four team trade that landed Dwight Howard in Los Angeles. Bynum arrived in Philadelphia
to much excitement and anticipation, being tipped as the next franchise player of the team and the guy around whom the team was going to rebuild and become a genuine contender once again in the years to come. However, luck has not favoured Bynum as he is yet
to start in a single game for the Sixers this season due to a knee injury. And after missing games so far this season, Bynum bruised his other knee as well last week in what is being called as a bowling incident. Whatever the reason was, the fact is that Bynum’s
return to the Sixers side is not yet clear, and his time line continues to be pushed back which is not going down to well with fans.
And amidst all the controversy and discussion around Bynum’s injury and his worth to the Sixers this season, Tzvi Twersky of SLAM magazine has shared a story that he says was told to him by one of Bynum’s former teammates. Twersky
questions Bynum’s devotion to the Sixers team.
“I started investigating [the bowling] a little bit, nd one of the people that I hit, a guy who has played with him before, he texted me back and said ‘I don’t know if that’s true [the bowling], but I do know that I’ve never met
another player in the league who likes basketball less [than Bynum]. The disclaimer is, I don’t know Andrew like that. From what I hear, he’s a good guy. But the fact that I heard this from a guy who has played with him before, it kind of made me think, ‘what’s
going on here exactly?’” said Twersky.
Bynum is gradually becoming a hated player in Philadelphia and fans have began wondering whether giving up Andre Iguodala for Bynum was the right decision. However, all he needs to do is get healthy and return to the All Star form
he exhibited last season with the Lakers, so that he can show his commitment to the franchise and finish all the controversies once and for all. But till the time he can return to the court, he might have to bear a few stories like the one above.
