Andrew D’Souza, an upcoming shuttler from Canada, made his home fans happy by proving his elevated craft on court and outplayed Diego Yong of Peru in Men’s Singles contest at the XXI Pan Am Junior 2012 Team Event on Monday, July 23, in Canada.
The impressive Andrew, who has been showing his attacking skills in all of his matches in the tournament, again displayed his class and easily gave a punishing lesson to Diego without showing him any respect.
The local shuttler showed his aggressive approach while playing against Diego and remained successful in finishing off this Men’s Singles contest in straight games by consuming just 23 minutes on court.
The underdog Diego, on the other hand, could not cope up with the incredible speed of his local opponent as he could not play aggressive badminton and lost the match without snatching any set from his Canadian opponent.
Andrew started his run in an incredible fashion as he played with impressive control and took seven consecutive points to set up an early lead of 7-0.
On the other hand, Diego also played well at this stage and managed to draw near his rival on score board but still remained at 6-11 until the end of first half.
After the break, the Canadian shuttler put up staggering show by increasing his speed and took the bird early from all areas aiming to dictate his rival in all areas.
The in-form Andrew was in superb control of the game and did not spare any chance for Diego to show his brilliance at any stage. He easily grabbed the first game with a stunning difference of 21-9.
In the second game, both men remained equal on score board in the opening rallies but Andrew played well and managed to take a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the break.
After the interval, Andrew continued showing his power play and did not face any trouble in ending up the second set with a staggering margin of 21-11.
