Andrew Dean and Charlotte Corlett claim Frostbite Regatta title - Sailing news
After a superb sailing performance on their RS200 boat, Andrew Dean and Charlotte Corlett made their way to the top podium place of the Frostbite Regatta standings. The Frostbite Regatta was hosted by Manx Sailing and Cruising Club at the West Baldwin Reservoir
on January 2, 2012.
Winds on the race course were behaving off the scale for participants as they were not creating any trouble for the fleet in the sheltered Baldwin Valley and were blowing as good moderate breeze gusts. The forecast was quite intermingled with the usual strong
gusts and mysterious calms.
The fleet consisted of 12 mixed boats starting from Laser to two-man RS200. The fleet began the single race for the S. E. Quayle Cup where four participants, Simon Pressly on Laser, Dave Batchelor on RS 200, Andrew Dean on RS 200 and Mike Pridham on Laser,
had an excellent start.
Batchelor on his RS200 was sailing brilliantly during the regatta at the edge of the lake but after some time, he slowed down a bit due to the imminent gear failure on his way to the upwind leg. Just before he was going to quit the race, he gathered some
energy and sprang back into it.
Meanwhile, sailing convincingly on his Laser, Simon Pressly crashed out of the leading contestants after a while, which allowed Ralph Kee along with the surging Angus Jolly to grab the leading position in the race. On the other hand, Mike Pridham sailed
tremendously to take five Laser wins and hit the second podium spot overall.
Andrew Dean and his daughter, Charlotte Corlett, were the only ones who came out of the waters clean without any mistakes and troubles to claim the top spot and the regatta title. They were closely followed by Pridham on second position with a one-minute
time difference, while Angus Jolly finished on third place.
Overall standings at the conclusion of the regatta:
1. Andrew Dean, Charlotte Corlett (RS 200)
2. Mike Pridham (Laser)
3. Angus Jolly (Laser)

5. Ralph Kee (Laser)
6. Simon Pressley (Laser)
