Flintoff hasn't given up on England
Andrew Flintoff is considering a move to Queensland this winter in order to re-ignite his England career.
Flintoff has been out of the England set-up since the 2009 Ashes series and has been battling against knee and ankle injuries ever since. There have been various reports and stories ever since that Flintoff will or won't play for England again.
The player has not given up hope just yet and says he will play for Queensland this winter if the Australian state side will take him in January. This will time nicely with England just about to start their limited overs matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
There are a huge number of benefits to Flintoff playing in Australia for a state side. You cannot help but admire his desire and determination when a lot of people have now been saying that his international career is dead in the water.
Benefits of playing for Queensland
The main benefit of working out a deal to play for Queensland is that Flintoff will be able to play first class cricket in the same country that England are touring.
This means that if England get a bad injury to a member of the playing side then Flintoff will already be in the country and it will be much easier for the England set-up to call on him than to have someone flown out to Australia.
It would be a gamble for Queensland but Flintoff is just about nearing full fitness now. This means that by the time January arrives, he should be chomping at the bit to start playing some form of first class cricket again. Physically he should be stronger and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 would have been given the chance to watch how Flintoff's fitness develops.
Flintoff said: "I'm a bit frustrated, I was meant to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806 over the past few weeks but seeing the physio and seeing where I'm at, I can't run properly so it was decided that I probably shouldn't start quite yet. It's just postponed a little bit so I'm back in the gym with the physio trying to get fit."
Brilliant attitude
You have to admire Flintoff's attitude because a lot of players would have given up on their careers and retired from first class cricket a long time ago.
Flintoff embodies the same attitude off the field as he does on the field and this makes him a huge asset to whoever he plays for. It will also help him when he has to try and break into what has now been a successful England side for a long time.
He added: "There's the option of playing in Queensland in January for them in the Twenty20, which I'd like to do. But more important is Lancashire next year. I'm not quite sure what is realistic at this moment in time. I'm still getting a few twinges in the knee and can't move as well as I'd like to."
Betting advice
Every so often a piece of romantic news has emerged that suggests Flintoff will be on the verge of playing again very soon. This could be another case of this happening but the player does seem to have a deep determination. Keep a close eye on the news and always proceed with caution.
Flintoff will not play again in the English season but an outrageous little punt could be for him to take the most wickets during the Australian Twenty20 tournament. You will get huge odds on this happening right now but if Flintoff does play for Queensland then it's a tremendous possibility.
