http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flintoff-c44360 urges Englishmen to credit County Cricket for Team England’s progress – Cricket News Update
Andrew Flintoff, the former English all-rounder, has asked his countrymen to give credit of Team England’s successfully journey towards becoming World’s top-ranked Test team, to the County Cricket setup, which has produced many quality players for the team.
As all the natives are crediting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Flintoff is not happy with this common perception and argues
that only the County Cricket is responsible for all these achievements.
Flintoff has lashed out on his nation fellows generally and the former players particularly for showing cool and passive response towards the domestic cricket at the juncture when the Poms are just one-step away from elevating to the top slot of international
Test cricket.
He opines that when the national cricket team underperform, all the analysts and cricket experts come up to blame County Cricket for this demise but when they perk up, no one dares to utter even a single word of appreciation for it.
Talking to the media, Flintoff said, “It’s funny because in the 1990s when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 were doing bad, they blamed county cricket. Now England are the best team in the world let’s see if these same people now complement county cricket for producing some fine
cricketers — I’ve not seen it so far!”
Highlighting the importance of the County Cricket, he told, “County cricket gets a bad rap from time to time. County cricket was something that I found very tough, the volume of cricket and the players that you were playing against.”
Having marvellously won the two Test games, the mighty English are now geared up to notch the top slot from the Indians by defeating them at least in one of the remaining two matches of the series.
Flintoff has admired his former team for their outstanding performance against the World’s No 1 team. He played 79 Tests, 141 ODIs and 7 T20Is before retiring from International cricket in 2009.
