Andrew Gemmell occupies Men’s 5km gold medal – Swimming news
Andrew Gemmell of RallySport Aquatics Club captured gold medal of the Women’s 10km event at the USA Swimming Open Water Nationals on Monday, May 20, 2013.
The 22-year-old Gemmell showed no mercy to his challengers in the 5km event as he sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for first position. With his commendable pace, Gemmell managed to edge out his toughest competitor over the finishing line and secured
the title.
He faced tough competition from his closest competitor over the finishing end and cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal with an effort of 57 minutes and 22.07 seconds.
The first position holder was followed by Joey Pedraza of Davie Nadadores Swim Team-FG, who was only half a body length behind and occupied silver medal of the race with the timing of 57 minutes and 22.68 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Sean Ryan of Club Wolverine-MI, who stayed only an inch behind and surfaced on the finishing end for third position with an effort of 57 minutes and 22.75 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was secured by Jordan Wilimovsky of Team Santa Monica-CA, who was nearly 0.70 seconds slower and clocked a time of 57 minutes and 23.24 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Janardan Burns of Mission Viejo Nadadores-CA, who remained marginally slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 57 minutes and 24.07 seconds.
Burns was chased by Brendan Casey of Team Santa Monica-CA, who secured sixth position of the race with the timing of 57 minutes and 25.14 seconds.
David Heron of Mission Viejo Nadadores-CA, who posted a time of 57 minutes and 25.35 seconds, obtained seventh fastest spot of the race.
Chip Peterson of North Carolina Aquatics Club-NC, who ended his race in 57 minutes and 25.90 seconds, managed the eighth spot of the race.
Daniel O’Connor of Mission Viejo Nadadores-CA, who ended his race in ninth place by posting a time of 57 minutes and 27.18 seconds, followed Peterson.
O’Connor was trailed by Arthur Frayler of Germantown Academy Aquatic Club-MA, who was only an inch slower and ended tenth in the race with an effort of 57 minutes and 27.33 seconds.
In addition, Gemmell received a huge round of applause from the audience for his notable pace and received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the event after the session.
