Andrew Lauterstein decides to work with Ian Thorpe in Switzerland – Swimming news
After the devastating performance at the World Championship Trials last month in Sydney, Andrew Lauterstein has decided to work with Ian James Thorpe in Switzerland. He admitted that 2010 went as a horrible year for him due to his chronic health conditions.
He came back in the World Championship Trials with huge hopes but he was not be able to perform well in the 100m fly final and missed the team eventually.
After the eight-day event, he claimed that he was not up to the mark in the crucial World Championship Trials meet. Lauterstein confessed that he would definitely need a quick change to his overall swimming styles and tactics.
“I hadn't thought about moving at all in the lead-up to trials and then straight off the back of the race [his semi-final], I knew something did have to change. I took a couple of weeks to weigh up my options and see where I felt was the best fit,” said
Lauterstein.
He said that a lot of wrong has happened to him due to his miserable life routines in the past. He had to move out of his hometown when he was only 18 years old. He had to train himself with some of his best friends in Sydney and for the effort his mentor
put in him, the athlete also considers his coach as a great friend. Moreover, he had to lose some essential funds due to his most surprising and dreadful performance in the 100m fly final of the World Championship Trials in Sydney, last month.
The Australian swimmer and three-time Olympic medallist added, “Living in Sydney, it's a pretty expensive lifestyle, and when you have pretty much no money coming in to support you, that can become a stress that can be possibly overbearing. To come home
and not have to worry about rent or food is luxury for me, so I can concentrate on the pool.”
Last, but not the least, Lauterstein admitted that he would desperately want to get more stability in his life.
