Andrew Luck's coach thinks Indianapolis Colts have once in a lifetime opportunity in drafts - NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts hold the number one draft pick and will likely move for Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in this month’s drafts.
However, the Colts are also said to be looking at Baylor’s Robert Griffin III and evaluating both talented prospects as they look to replace Peyton Manning through the drafts.
Luck though remains the number one contender to join the franchise and his private coach, George Whitfield Jr. believes that the Colts have a once in a lifetime opportunity to get someone as talented as the young quarterback.
"If they over-think this, they're going to make a mistake they'll regret for years,"
Adding further he said.
"He's constantly being categorized as being safe, the sure thing, almost to the point where it's a negative like there's a ceiling, no apparent way for him to get better. It almost feels like they're looking at him as the guy with the least amount of negatives."
Indianapolis parted ways with Peyton Manning after 13-years of unprecedented success for such a small franchise. The Colts confident with the number one draft pick and seeing Manning’s struggles to recover from three neck surgeries decided to part ways with
the veteran.
The Colts ended the 2011-12 season with a poor 2-14 record and were winless for most of the season ending up with the number one draft pick.
Luck had been highly impressive at Stanford and after throwing the ball and his performances at the combine showed that the hype around the youngster is genuine.
Indianapolis are lucky in the extreme as they look to replace a future Hall of Famer who built the franchise into one of the juggernauts of the league with another who will likely pick up Manning’s baton and lead the franchise to new heights in the future.
Whitfield went on to praise Luck’s abilities and said that Luck can even improve on his already formidable skills to become one of the best in the National Football League (NFL).
"But he's athletic. He's cat quick. He's strong. People are saying he's a prototypical pocket passer, like they're putting him in this category. But there's a lot more he can do."
The drafts start on April 26th and it’s safe to assume that Andrew Luck is heading for the Lucas Oil Stadium.
