Andrew Luck and Indianapolis Colts expectations: Will he be another Peyton Manning?-NFL Feature Part II
Continued from part I...
The decision to replace Peyton Manning with a draft quarterback had taken by Indianapolis Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, into early phase of former’s neck injury.
However, proving true to his nature, he kept the card closer to his chest until March 07, 2012, when he, accompanied by Peyton Manning, told a media conference that they were parting ways, finally.
Obviously, the mood prevalent there and then was not pleasurable, apparently because the player did not want to leave Indianapolis until he called it quit from the professional league.
Also, the owner had remained on and off the issue, denying throughout that Peyton Manning had become a past for Colts.
However, it had become an open secret then that Colts would not have him back to the side next season.
Even Colts’ front office managers were aware of the fact. They, to some extent, had warned Jim Irsay against such a move.
Most importantly, fans were not happy the way owner had acted on the matter.
Finally, Irsay released Manning, a day before he was due to get $28 million optional bonus.
Almost all managers and coaches the player had worked with for over a decade were too let go by the owner in the same rash cleansing drive.
The main motivational factor for the owner to release Peyton Manning was the rising star of Stanford College.
Andrew Luck, who played as a QB for the college, was rated to be the top prize of the season. Irsay became focused on him as their next QB.
Irsay used the same old tactics and left the issue getting played into much controversy and confusion before he finally admitted that Colts would hire Luck.
Now, the player has been signed and confirmed for the next season. Soon after confirmation of the hiring, Luck arrived in Indianapolis to view his team’s facilities.
So standing behind the podium, Luck marked beginning to his career the way Peyton Manning had done.
Even though Luck is coming into another era, when career of Peyton Manning is almost over, Luck is rated to be a player within Manning’s skills patron.
It is pertinent to note that no analysis on the game and personality of Andrew Luck has lately completed without comparing him with Peyton Manning.
The latter rather proves to be a benchmark for his measuring. This is the reason that Colts have great expectations from Luck becoming future’s Peyton Manning.
