Andrew Parr and Shane Lowry finish five behind at the Sicilian Open
Andrew Parr has tied for the sixth position with Shane Lowry, by scoring 10-under 278, on Sunday, at the Sicilian Open.
Both the professionals were able to record their best finish of the current year. They impressed the spectators with their enormous scoring and tremendous strokes.
Parr started the round with a bogey on Thursday and made four birdies till evening. He finished the first round by scoring 1-under 71.
Then on Friday, he was again unable to start the round at par. He made a double-bogey on the first hole and then shot three consecutive birdies from the 2nd to the 4th hole.
Later, he added three more birdies and finished the second round by scoring 3-under 69. He amazed the spectators and all his fans by completing a bogey free Saturday.
He added -5 to the leaderboard scores and scored 5-under 67. This was his best finish of the Sicilian Open and he also improved his position at day-end.
On Sunday, the Canadian scored three birdies, an eagle, two bogeys and a double-bogey. Andrew’s scores were matched by the Irish professional Shane Lowry and they both tied for the sixth position.
Lowry made 19 impressive birdies and an eagle. He was among the top-5 players till the second round, but due to inconsistent finishes, he landed outside the top-5.
Thorbjorn Olesen is the proud winner of the tournament. Andrew and Lowry finished 5 behind him.
They also gave tough times to the leader. However, Olesen’s scores of 68 in the first and 69 in the last round took him to the leading position.
“It feels amazing. I had three seconds last year, so to finally get my first win is great,” Olesen said.
“I've been playing some great golf this year, without all parts of my game coming together. But this week my long and short game both came together, and it feels fantastic to finally get over the line”.
This was the first European Tour win for the Irish and his impressive performance on the course cheered all the spectators.
Now all eyes are at the Majors Tournament, the first major of the year. All the top ranked players are heading to Augusta, to be in the field of the $8,000,000 purse event.
