Andrew Seliskar of CUBU-PV captured gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day two of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 14.
The 15-year-old Seliskar smothered efforts of the fastest qualifying swimmer, Ryan Nelson of Golden West Swim in the playoff as he proved his mettle for the gold spot on medal rostrum.
With his tremendous efforts, Seliskar stayed in a prominent lead over his strongest challenger and hit the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 23.27 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained 1.09 seconds faster from Steven Stumph of Orinda Aquatics, who followed him on the medal rostrum for silver medal by completing his race in a time of 4 minutes and 24.36 seconds.
Stumph was chased by Samuel Smiddy of AK Sharks-FG, who stayed 1.03 seconds slower from improving his position and secured the podium for bronze medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 25.39 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by the fastest qualifying swimmer, Nelson, who failed to book any spot on the podium and ended his race in fourth place with an effort of 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds.
Nelson was followed by Brandon Flynn of York YMCA-MA, who remained one and a half body length apart and reported an effort of 4 minutes and 27.83 seconds for fifth position.
