The English Test skipper, Andrew Strauss, has announced retirement from professional cricket in a press conference held at Lord’s.
According to Strauss it was the right time for him to move on and pass the captaincy to another guy.
“After much thought over the last few weeks, I have decided to step down as England Test captain and announce my retirement from all forms of cricket. It has clearly been a tough decision to make, but I believe that it is both in the best interests of the England cricket team and myself to step down at this stage," said the former skipper.
Strauss who led England as captain in 50 games, won 24 and is now the fourth most successful skipper from England in the history of the game.
England achieved the status of number-one team in Test cricket under Strauss, but this month it was Strauss who led his side to a 2-0 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in a three-match series, losing their cherished status in the longest format of the game.

Cook, held Strauss in great esteem for the work he has done with the national squad and raised the bar high enough for other teams to follow.
