Andrew Strauss aims to lead England for years to come – Cricket News
English Test captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, believes that he still has enough energy to lead England Test side for many years to come.
After guiding the Poms to their historic Ashes victory in Australia last year, Strauss became the only third English skipper after Sir Len Hutton and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Michael-Brearley-c68348 to lead his country to Ashes series triumphs home and away.
The classy left-hander may get the opportunity to lift his side once again in the Ashes, however, Strauss believes that his first challenge will be to assure his side's win in the upcoming Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, scheduled in summer this
year.
According to a leading English newspaper, Strauss feels that England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)’s decision of adopting three-pillared approach - appointing three separate captains for each format of the game, does not mean that his cricket is over.
"The captaincy can definitely wear you down, and if I was still playing one-day cricket it could wear me down quicker. I don't know how far away that time would have been but the landscape can change very quickly. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Paul-Vaughan-c76145 looked very much in control
one minute, the next he had lost form and retired. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173 was playing the best cricket of his life 12 months ago and now he's gone, too," said Strauss.
Strauss further described that even though he is not sure who will lead English team in the next Ashes series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, he is confident of having a lot cricket left in his international career. The left-hander claimed that he is physically fit and can
motivate his players in the future.
"If the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 side moves on and it becomes obvious that the next leader is ready and my time is up, then great, it is right for that change to be made," the opening batsman added.
Strauss, nicknamed Straussy, is considered as one of the best Test skippers in the history of English Test cricket. He has served his country in 82 Test in which has scored over 6000 runs at an a fine average of 43.14.
