England’s Test skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 has the ability to compete with the best in the
business.
Bell was dropped from the One Day International (ODI) squad to take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 from the shorter versions of the sport has urged the English selectors to show faith in
his abilities once again.
The 30-year-old has been recalled to the ODI team, which will take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 from Saturday in a three-match series. The left-handed Test opener, who no longer plays the shorter versions of the sport, believes that Bell is a
classic player who can deliver the goods for the Poms in every kind of cricket.
Strauss expressed that Pietersen’s sudden retirement has given a massive chance to the stylish right-hander to re-establish his career in 50-overs cricket.
"This might just be the opportunity he needs to cement his place in the one-day side. I think we all know his quality and it's great for him to be back in that one-day set-up,” the Test captain said.
The top-order batsman made his ODI debut in 2004 and since then he has played 108 matches for England and is averaging 34.04 with the help of a hundred and 19 half-centuries. Bell needs to improve on his stats in 50-overs cricket
and this may well be his last opportunity.
Strauss further added that the right-hander has played some extra-ordinary knocks for England over the years but he needs one big innings to kick-start his ODI career once again.
The left-handed opener added, "He has shown plenty of times that he is capable of doing a very good job in one-day cricket, maybe he just hasn't had that one breakthrough innings that really grabs the game by the scruff of the neck
and wins it for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. I think once he does that the world is his oyster.”
Bell is most likely to open the innings in ODIs as he will take over Pietersen’s role. However, it remains to be seen whether the right-hander is able to live up to his potential or not.
