Andrew Strauss concerned over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s incapable ACSU – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Timothy-Michael-Lamb-c94061".
His comments came in the wake of Spot-foxing verdict against three Pakistan players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed.
The Southwark Crown Court in London announced varying prison terms for the trio on account of accepting black money and delivering no-balls deliberately in a Test match against the hosts, England, last year.
The scam was brought into light by the defunct ‘News of the World’  tabloid; however; it was ASCU’s duty to identify such scandals. Since the unit has never succeeded in spotting any scam, Strauss has raised serious
concerns over the performance of the body which has been established only for the purpose of eradicating corruption from the game.
"The unit hasn't got the resources. They can't do sting operations like the
News of the World, they can't infiltrate these betting networks. I'm hopeful only a minor percentage of cricketers are involved in it but the truth is we really don't know,” said Strauss at a charity dinner.
The classy opener was a part of England’s crew that played against Pakistan in the controversial Lord’s Test in 2010. He insisted that it is ironic that the ASCU failed to discover the con before a newspaper did.
"There are still a lot of questions to be answered because they weren't exposed by any of the cricketing members, they were exposed by the
News of the World. I think we've got to get better at policing these sorts of things. I think we all know there's no place for it in the game. I still think the ICC could be doing a lot more than they are doing," shared the English skipper who led
the side to the pinnacle of ICC Test rankings.
Talking about England’s upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 that may refreshed the sour memories of the controversy, Strauss dismissed the notion about any possible bad blood between the two sides, saying that the
Poms will take the competition as a normal, but crucial series.
