England Captain Andrew Strauss has said that he is quite confident that his side will pull something special in the upcoming Ashes series.
The first Ashes Test will start from 25 November and nerves are starting to show in players from both the sides. For England it is one of their best chances to defeat the Aussies in their own backyard, while Australia have a lot of honour at stake as they
don’t lose much at home. Whatever happens, one thing is for sure that the fans will witness some tough and intense competition. Strauss has always been confident of his side’s ability to retain the Ashes and has labelled his players as competent.
Andrew Strauss was of the view that they are well prepared from the three build-up games in Australian conditions, and they are ready to make an impact against Ricky Ponting’s side. Andrew Strauss said that England has a good opportunity in the series. He
was also of the view that England has started the tour well and they are placed in a good position at the moment. He also realises that it is going to be a tough task to defeat the Aussies in their own backyard as not many sides have managed a series victory
in Australia.
Andrew Strauss said that they understand the challenge that lies ahead of them and they are in a good mental condition to take it on. England is having a dream run as they have not lost a Test series for more than a year. Number of memorable performances
has come from their players and they must be labelled as favourites on paper.
Australia on the other hand lost 7 consecutive matches in all forms of cricket including 3 Test matches. They also lost the Test series (2-0) against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and came under heavy criticism from the media and ex-players.
It has also been suggested that it is England’s best chance since Mike Gatting’s side lifted the Ashes in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in 1986-87. Andrew Strauss further said that it’s going to take a lot of good cricket from England players and some good performances to make
an impact in the Ashes.
