England skipper Andrew Strauss is delighted for sealing an innings victory against Australia downunder after 24 years and said that the victory has boosted the morale of his side.
England, in the second Test played at Adelaide Oval, thwarted the favourites, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 by an innings and 71 runs going one up in the five-match Ashes series with three matches yet to be played.
“To bowl Australia out for 245 was an outstanding effort on a flat wicket, then we didn't take our foot off the pedal," said the England skipper. "We never gave them a look in the game and we're very pleased about what we've done, especially
on the back of the last couple of days at the Brisbane Test.”
It was a comprehensive performance from the tourists – disciplined bowling, excellent batting and an athletic fielding. But the visiting skipper was cautious not to sound triumphant or gloat over his team's conclusive performance with bat
and ball.
He said that the innings victory has to some extent washed out the horrible memories of a comparative game at the same venue four years ago. Strauss further added that the special victory must be enjoyed but the more important thing is not
to let Australia make a comeback in the series.
The 33-year-old accredited the victory to the team effort from a tight-knit England group against a transitional Oz squad.
"We've seen that come through, we've been a very tight unit for the last couple of years now really and we're seeing guys that are getting used to winning and celebrating each other's success, and that's a great thing," said the England
opener.
Strauss further added that he has been saying before the start of series that the only way to win the Ashes would be a comprehensive effort from all the Playing XIs, “we can't rely on one or two.” Strauss also praised the performance of
his batsmen.
Strauss’s men, before heading to Perth for the third Ashes Test, are scheduled to play a three day-tour game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 in Melbourne Cricket Ground which gets underway on 10 December.
