Steven Finn, the 23-year-old pacer from Hertfordshire, has come to the aid of his Test skipper, Andrew Strauss. Finn in laying support to Strauss, who is under severe criticism from the media, has said that the left-hander is the
right man to lead England.
Strauss has not been scoring runs for England as frequently and freely as he is expected to. The 35-year-old went back to his roots and played a match for his county side http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817, in hopes of regaining his lost form.
However, things did not turn out well, as all the stylish left-hander managed to score were merely six runs from two innings.
Despite the repeated failures, Finn believes that the 35-year-old has not lost his touch. He said, “He is not out of nick. It won't have bothered him too much that he didn't get any runs in that first match. He is England captain
for a reason. He deals with these situations very well.”
Strauss had a disastrous 2011 season. Straussy, as he commonly known amongst his team mates, only scored 316 runs from eight games that England played in 2011.
The English team, on the other hand, accomplished a lot during the same time. They not only retained the Ashes but after thumping http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 4-0, in a home series, they went on to become the number one team in ICC’s Test rankings.
2012 has not been much better for Strauss, even more for England in this regard. The Poms suffered a three nil series whitewash in the Test series to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. The English
were on brink of losing their number one Test status had it not been for the win in the third Test against the Lankans.
Strauss, in the five matches this year, has only scored 264 runs at an average of 26.40. The left-hander, who has retired from ODI’s to prolong his Test career, will hope to turn the tables in the upcoming Test series against the
