http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 jubilant with his form – Cricket News Update
Andrew Strauss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at home and expressed that it is always great for a captain to lead the team from the front.
The left-handed opening batsman had a torrid time in 2011 as he scored at less than 30 runs per innings, which is not acceptable for an opener at this level of the sport. He also struggled earlier this year in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The 35-year-old cricketer faced immense criticism from different ranks and many question marks were raised about his place in England’s playing eleven.
However, Strauss has answered his critics, scoring consecutive hundreds in the series against the Caribbean Kings. England is currently leading the three-match series 1-0 and look set to win the second match as well.
There is a saying in cricket that ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’ and Strauss is of the opinion that when a batsman is not middling the ball, it gets really tough at times to regain the momentum as the game is all about confidence but things can
change if a player continues to work hard.
England’s Test captain is geared up to make full use of his form and wants to score huge runs in the remainder of the season.
He mentioned, "I suppose to a degree it's confidence but it's a strange game - sometimes batting feels difficult and at other times, with a few runs under your belt, it's easier. I'm just delighted to be in a bit of form and very determined to make the most
of it, not just tomorrow but over the rest of the series as well.”
West Indies’ captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, on the other hand, is also happy with his maiden Test century in the first innings of the second match but is not satisfied with the overall batting effort of the visitors.
"It was good to get a Test hundred, a really good feeling, but from a team point of view we didn't bat as we were supposed to,” Sammy expressed.
