Andrew Strauss not happy with his recent performances – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Strauss and company are presently the number one ranked Test team of the world but they have had a torrid time against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), where they were whitewashed in the three-match series. Now they have lost the first Test in Sri
Lanka as well.
The left-handed batsman has been the mainstay of the English batting line-up since last couple of years but he has failed to deliver the goods this year against quality spinners. Some of the cricket analysts in England are blaming Strauss for England’s poor
showings in Asia and are calling for his ouster.
The English captain believes that he has been in good form but has not been able to translate it into runs for his team, which is very disappointing for him as the leader of the England team. However, the left-handed opener is hoping for a better performance
in the second Test against the Islanders.
He said, "At the moment it is frustrating me as much as anyone. I'm hitting the ball nicely and feel in good form but you're judged on your performances and I've not performed well enough. Hopefully I will put it right next week.”
Before the series against Pakistan, most of the former cricketers were of the opinion that the English batting line-up is the best in the world but it has been badly exposed against spin bowling. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HMRKB-Herath-c1559
have destroyed the form of Strauss and some other English batsmen.
While talking about his place in the team, Strauss expressed that this is not something to talk about during a series. Apart from his individual performance, the left-handed opener wants his team to raise the level of their game.
"Questions about my position are just not something I'm going to answer in the middle of the series. My focus is very much on winning the next game and it would be wrong to think of anything else. It is hard to say we're making progress having lost four
in a row," Strauss added.
