Reacting sharply to media reports of a possible exit by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, insisted that his side needed least possible distractions before going into the third and final Test against visitors South Africa to save their
number-one status in Test cricket.
Refusing to comment on KP, the English skipper said, “One thing I will say, and it is important to stress this, is that the Team unity that we have had over the last three years has been outstanding. It is something we all pride ourselves on, always have
done and will continue to do so going forward.”
“I hope the Kevin issue isn't going to be a distraction. The truth is we want as few distractions as possible in making sure we win this third Test match. I'm not here to talk about Kevin Pietersen. It is not something I want to talk about at this stage,"
the opening left-handed batsman added.
The latest controversy involving the English all-rounder made headlines when KP acknowledged that he would have to assess his international career after the final Test.
The flamboyant, KP, is not happy with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after details of his private meetings with the officials were leaked in the local media.
The all-rounder, who retired from one-day cricket before the South African series, had held talks with the ECB, which according to certain media outlets were regarding his possible return to the One Day Internationals (ODIs) after coming out of his premature
retirement.
He insisted that a negative image was being created of him in the eyes of the England public and it was taking its toll on him.
“It was blamed on me that before this Test series I was grabbing the headlines,” said the infuriated KP.

KP then mounted a stupendous knock of 149 runs to play a dominating role in taking his side to a first innings total of 425.
