Andrew Symonds blasts Cricket Australia

Andrew Symonds has lambasted the way in which the controversy of the 2008 Test series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Australia was handled by the concerned authorities.
Speaking to a cricket website, Cricinfo, Australia’s Symonds has said that he felt that he was hard done by the administrators of the game in the controversy that also involved the Indian off-spinner,
Harbhajan Singh. The controversy had occurred in the second Test match between the two teams at Sydney when Symonds had alleged that Harbhajan called him a monkey. It was said to be a racial taunt and the match referee had called upon Harbhajan Singh and banned
him for one game.
According to the former Aussie cricketer, the Indian cricket board had done everything possible to get Harbhajan off and also added, "I think Cricket Australia was intimidated by the Indian cricket board.”

An incensed Indian team had appealed against the verdict, calling it as one man’s word against another and also added the match referee had refused to take the Indian word. Later, there were rumours that
the tour would be called off by the Indian cricket board before the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is said to have accepted that Harbhajan Singh had actually sworn in Hindi that got misconstrued as ‘monkey’

Symonds said in the interview that had “truth, honesty and common sense prevailed”, Singh would not have got away with the proverbial rap on the knuckles and that he would have been punished.

Symonds said that he was most miffed by the fact that there was a lie involved, and his own accusation against Singh was thrown into question.
“Because the allegation was that this hadn't happened, and it had.”

The ICC had later said that they had missed out on giving evidence of Harbhajan’s previous misdemeanours and that had allowed the off-spinner to get away with a fine of 50 per cent of the match fee. Symonds
said that their case was not put forth in a correct manner and that had cost the Aussie side dear.
