Andrew Teduits claims Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day three – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
Andrew R Teduits of Wisconsin Aquatics claimed gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on day three of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
The 19-year-old Teduits stifled efforts of his competitors in the four-lap backstroke swim and earned his way to the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With his continuous efforts, he remained marginally ahead of his strongest challenger and reached the finishing wall for first position by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 01.59 seconds.
His meticulous effort remained 0.14 seconds faster from Sean M Lehane of Academy Bullets, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 01.73 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Peter D Grumhaus of Cats Aquatic Team, who remained almost five seconds slower from his former finisher and made his way to the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 06.12 seconds.
Similarly, Grumhaus was followed by Grant N Betulius of Club Hawkeye-IA, who stayed 0.24 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 06.36 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Samuel M Hiller of Maverick Swim Club, who was 1.32 seconds away from overpowering his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.68 seconds.
Hiller was followed by Jordan M Huff of Club Hawkeye-IA, who proved his mettle for sixth finest spot of the event as he touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 07.80 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Jack R Tribble of Rockford Marlins, who remained 1.51 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.31 seconds.
Tribble was chased by Huff’s teammate, Byron R Butler, who was only 0.03 seconds slower and posted a time of 2 minutes and 09.34 seconds.
In addition, Teduits was overjoyed with his performance in the Men’s 200m discipline and said that he would try to do the same at upcoming events.
