Andrey Arshavin still enjoying Arsenal's trips to Liverpool
Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin has said he still enjoys playing away fixtures in Liverpool after his team defeated Everton 2–1 on Sunday 14 November.
In April 2009, three months into Arshavin's Arsenal career, the Russian scored four goals in a thrilling game against Liverpool that ended 4–4.
Against Everton, the 28-year-old turned in a lively performance and assisted Bacary Sagna for Arsenal's first goal.
"I like to play in Liverpool, and I haven’t changed my mind after this match," Arshavin told his club's official website.
"It is clear that [Everton and Liverpool] have a serious confrontation in their city. Before the game, some Liverpool fans were asking me to beat their sworn enemies."
Best away record in the league
After their victory against Everton and Manchester United's draw with Aston Villa, Arsene Wenger's team are in second place in the league table, trailing leaders Chelsea by only two points.
A key factor behind Arsenal's strong position is the team's away form. The team have collected 14 points from eight away games so far, earning the strongest away record of all the Premier League teams this season.
Four days prior to their victory at Goodison Park, Arsenal overcame Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
"We managed to bring home six points from two away games, and that allowed us to get into the second place," said Arshavin, adding that his team will feel encouraged by their current position in their upcoming games.
"When you win, score points, it gives you additional strength. Of course, it’s always better to top the table throughout the whole championship. But, if you go second in the table, it’s psychologically easier to catch up with the leader than when your team
is lower in the standings."
Arsenal's next league game comes on Saturday 20 November, when Wenger's men host Tottenham in a much-anticipated North London derby.
