Andrey Arshavin to leave Arsenal for Chelsea; Real Madrid lining up €115 million for Bale and Modric
Arsenal’s Russian forward Andrey Arshavin is believed to be on the verge of a controversial move from Arsenal to city rivals Chelsea.
There are reports making the rounds in the English media that the defending champions Chelsea are lining up a strong bid to bring the midfielder over. The reports also claim that Arshavin is not happy at Arsenal and is looking
for a chance to leave.
Arshavin has scored 7 goals for the Gunners this season and also has the highest number of assists this season. However, he is still struggling to find a first-team spot and he has been criticised by many fans and experts for having
a non-serious attitude towards the game. The midfielder is also criticised for lack of effort and being lethargic at times.
Another interesting aspect to the whole story is that Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, is believed to be close to Arshavin as both worked together for the successful bid for the 2018 World Cup.
Arshavin has currently 18 months or so left on his Arsenal contract, and according to that his estimated price is around 10 million pounds, which is not much for a player like him.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, however, may not be the only club interested in the services of the Russian. His former club Zenit St Petersburg are also reported to be interested in taking back their player.
Arsene Wenger, though, continues to say that there is no truth to those rumours, and Andrey Arshavin is happy at the Emirates. Wenger recently went on to say that currently Arshavin is going through a difficult time and he would
definitely come out of it soon.
Arshavin will turn 30 this year and Arsenal have a strict policy of not offering a contract of more than one year to players over 30. Negotiations have been underway between the player and the club but a consensus has not been
reached till now.
In other news, Spanish giants Real Madrid are believed to be lining up a raid at Tottenham Hotspur. The all-whites are reportedly lining up bids for Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. The combined sum to be offered by Madrid is believed
to be around 115 million Euros.
A leading British newspaper The Daily Star has reported that Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his team due to some injuries.
Despite the allure of Real Madrid and their ability to pay big bucks, it would not be easy to swipe away players of such significance to Tottenham. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, the left back who was converted to midfielder by manager Harry Redknapp,
is all set to sign a contract that would make him earn 100,000 pounds a week, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 is also close to signing a long-term deal with the club.
The Spurs manager is also reportedly interested in bringing his former player Lassana Diarra (currently playing for Real Madrid) back to London. There can be a swap deal in the offering if both parties can agree on the terms.
Bale is one player that has a hands-off warning attached to him, but given the right price, the Spurs may be interested in doing business as Redknapp does want Diarra back at the club.
