Andrey Kuznetsov moves into quarterfinals as Diego Junqueira crashes out – Uruguay Open 2011 CH
Third seeded Argentinean Diego Junqueira said farewell to Montevideo as he lost the second round match against Russian Andrey Kuznetsov on November 16, 2011.  The Russian was dominant as he won the match in straight sets, 6-3,
6-4.
Junqueira had no chance to reply back to any of Kuznetsov’s serves or shots as the Russian moved with a steady pace into the match. Junqueira had a 76% first serve winning ratio as compared to Kuznetsov’s 55%, but the Russian was
ahead because of the points he earned from his service games.
Ranked at the 242nd place in the world, Kuznetsov scored three aces in the match and conceded double faults thrice. Junqueira did not deliver any ace in the match but he conceded a single double fault.
The Russian won 67% points from his first serve and 50% from his second. He did save seven breakpoints out of the ten he had which helped him in the lead. On the other hand, the Argentinean could only save a single breakpoint from
the six chances he got.
As the first set progressed, the Russian scored two aces with a double fault once. He had a 61% first serve winning ratio as compared to Junqueira’s 76% rate. 20-year old Kuznetsov won 84% points from his first serve and 50% points
from his second. 30-year old Junqueira won 58% from his first serve and 67% from his second. The Argentinean’s service games were unable to give him any momentum as the Russian was ahead from the start of the set.
Junqueira was only able to save one breakpoint from the two he got. On the other hand, Kuznetsov saved both of his breakpoints. The Russian was not only playing his service games with accuracy, but his defensive and offensive shots
gave him the push to stay ahead of the Argentinean. Kuznetsov won the first sert 6-3.
Both players performed averagely in the second set. Kuznetsov scored only a single ace and conceded double faults twice in the set. Junqueira was again unable to score any ace because he did not show any offensive attitude in the
match. The Argentinean had a 76% first serve winning ratio, which was much higher than Kuznetsov’s 50%, but since the Russian had a good run with his service games.
Kuznetsov won 50% points from both of his first and second serve. He was successful in saving five breakpoints out of the eight he faced. Junqueira, on the other hand, won 42% points from his first serve and only 17% points from
his second serve. He was unable to save any of the four breakpoints that he faced. Kuznetsov won the second set 6-4 and cruised into the quarterfinals of the 2011 Uruguay Open.
