Andrey Lapshin and Iryna Bolshakova conquer 50m back-stroke titles - European Masters Championships
Andrey Lapshin and Iryna Bolshakova of Ukraine earned the titles of Men’s and Women’s 50m back-stroke respectively, on day three of the 13th European Masters Championships, taking place in Yalta, Ukraine.
Lapshin presented a laudable swim in the Men’s 50m back-stroke by posting a top ranked time of 27.16 seconds. He was in a lead of 3.10 seconds over his following swimmer, Oliver Joedecke of Germany, who posted a time of 30.26 seconds for silver medal. The
German swimmer was followed by Darren Marr of Great Britain, who remained only 0.35 seconds slower than him and posted a time of 30.61 seconds for bronze medal.
In the meantime, Andrey Orehov of Russia appeared on the finishing wall and occupied the fourth finest spot of the event, as he reported in a time of 33.54 seconds. Orehov touched out his closest competitor and Lapshin’s team-member, Oleksadr Paliy, who
remained only 0.08 seconds slower than his former finisher and ended his swim in a time of 33.62 seconds.
Moments later, Bolshakova clinched the title of back-stroke event in Women’s category. Bolshakova ended her swim in a nice time of 30.27 seconds for gold medal. She was followed by Tina Kuter of Germany, who earned silver medal of the event after she touched
the finishing wall and ended her swim by submitting a time of 33.57 seconds. The bronze medal was secured by Ana Cristina Dima of Romania, who reached the podium for the bronze medal, with a timing of 34.14 seconds.
Meanwhile, Anastasia Vazhenina of Russia emerged as the fourth best swimmer of the event, as she posted a time of 34.68 seconds. She was trailed by Ekaterina Dolavruk of Ukraine, who remained only 0.31 seconds away from Vazhenina and ended her swim in the
respective meet to clock a time of 34.99 seconds.
The session ended after the noteworthy swims of senior swimmers, whereas, the medal winners were awarded accolades for their efforts. Furthermore, the championship will conclude after two days, with the completion of all scheduled events.
