Andrey Lapshin and Susanne Hock win titles of 200m IM: Day one – 13th European Masters Championships
Andrey Lapshin of Ukraine and Susanne Hock of Germany won the titles of Men’s and Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) respectively, on the initial day of the 13th European Masters Championships, taking place in Yalta, Ukraine.
Lapshin proved his dominance in the 25-29 years old Men’s category by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 14.19 seconds. His effort was comfortable away from his closest competitor, Matthias Vauthier of Switzerland, who earned silver medal of the event by
posting a time of 2 minutes and 17.30 seconds. He was followed by Rene Formanek of Austria, who followed them on the podium for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 23.24 seconds.
The fourth position of the event was secured by Mark Billyard of Great Britain, as he earned fifth position with a time of 2 minutes and 27.57 seconds. Billyard was trailed by Daniel Ossmann of Germany, as he completed his swim in a time of 2 minutes and
28.03 seconds.
In the Women’s corner, Hock showered her expertise and won the title of the event in a time of 2 minutes and 33.72 seconds. She was traced by Magdalena Bolewska of Poland, as she remained nearly seven seconds slower than her and reached the podium for silver
medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 40.99 seconds. Similarly, Bolewska was in a lead of nearly three seconds over her subsequent swimmer, Anja Bonde Boejesen, who gained third position of the event with a timing of 2 minutes and 43.77 seconds.
Meanwhile, the bronze medallist was trailed by Katarzyna Walenta of Poland, who claimed fourth position by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 50.17 seconds. Walenta was followed by Anastasia Vazhenina of Russia, who touched the finishing wall and ended his
swim to clock a time of 2 minutes and 52.00 seconds for the fifth position.
The crowd appreciated the wonderful efforts of all athletes, while the winners were invited on the medal rostrum for their ferocious efforts after the session.
