Andriy Shevchenko insists Derby della Madonnina will decide the Scudetto – Serie A news
Former AC Milan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Shevchenko-c6014 has said that the Rossoneri will win the Serie A title if they beat city rivals Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro on 2 April, 2011.
He admitted that the clash is a crucial one for both the sides and the winner would definitely have the advantage in the race to Scudetto.
AC Milan are currently on top of the Serie A table with 62 points from 30 games. The Rossoneri have dropped 5 points in the last two games which has put Inter Milan back into contention for the title. The Nerazzurri sit in second place with 60 points and
a win would see them leapfrog their Milan rivals.
Shevchenko said that his former club have dropped many points of late and have been very unlucky with some of their results. He added that Milan should have won the clash against Bari at home and should have scored two or three goals in the match.
“Milan have dropped many points in the past few weeks and they've been very unlucky lately,” the striker was quoted as saying.
The Ukrainian still believes Milan will win the title and stated that the UEFA Champions League 2007 winners have the quality to beat their bitter rivals in the derby. He added that a win over Inter would be a psychological boost for the Rossoneri and that
could well turn out to be the difference at the end of the ongoing 2010-11 season.
“However, I think they have what it takes to win the derby against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567. Victory in the derby will be crucial in the title race. A big sporting success like that will give Milan a huge psychological advantage over Inter,” concluded the veteran.
Shevchenko, who currently plays for his hometown club Dynamo Kyiv, scored a brilliant 175 goals for AC Milan in a total of 322 appearances.
