The 35-year-old striker is looking for an exit from his current club Dynamo Kyiv after three years at the club. Shevchenko participated for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 in the European Championships and scored two goals, but failed to lead his side to glory.
He has now retired from international football and is currently focusing on deciding his club future. The former AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man has strongly been linked with a move to MLS, but he expected to snub the move to the unknown club for a return to Stamford
Bridge.
Shevchenko was initially linked with the MLS because he has previously expressed his desire to play in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 more often than not, which is what led to rumours linking to a move there.
However, it seems the striker will be rejoining the London side, taking up a managerial role. He is known to be close friends with the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, which has apparently inspired the potential return to Stamford Bridge.
The Dynamo Kyiv president Rezo Chokhonelidze revealed that Shevchenko was most likely to make a return to Chelsea in the near future. He hinted that the player would be taking up a managerial post at the club, working under Roman Abramovich himself.
Chokhonelidze said in an interview:
“Shevchenko will do something under his good friend Roman Abramovich.”
It was in 2005 when Chelsea began their chase for Shevchenko, succeeding a year later in the summer of 2006. Abramovich was known to be huge fan of the Ukraine international and the Blues chief executive admitted Chelsea were looking to bring in Shevchenko.
Kenyon said:
"I think Shevchenko is the type of player we would like. At the end of the day to improve what we have got, it has to be a great player and Shevchenko certainly comes into that class."
However, he did not have a good spell at Chelsea, scoring just nine times in 46 English Premier League appearances.
