Andry Ilmiyawan outshines Aldhi Septo in qualifying round of 2013 Nasional Li Ning Jakarta Open
Indonesia’s spirited male shuttler Andry Ilmiyawan played flawless badminton in second stage of the qualifying round of Djarum Sirkuit Nasional Li Ning Jakarta Open and moved one step forward on May 14, 2013.
He was up against Aldhi Septo W and their meeting prolonged to three gruelling sets before ending with decisive figures of 15-21, 21-19 and 21-13.
Though, Andry took some time to get on right track but he managed to perform in the ending two games.
On the other hand, the losing contender frittered away his first set win in the final moments and bid adieu to this national championship.
Aldhi Septo amazed everyone with his splendid craft on the court and bagged the opening match point with distinction.
He unleashed a series of power packed strokes in the establishing rallies and gained an immediate advantage on the points table.
This initial lead helped him to pile up a decent total in next couple of rallies. He finished first half of the set with a respectable score position and started the latter part of game with a psychological edge.
After the mid-game break, he made some fatal mistakes and allowed the opposing shuttler to proceed on points table.
However, he managed to reinstate his dominance in third quarter of the set and wrapped this segment of the showdown with 21-15 total.
The following game did not bring anything for him as Andry stormed back with a strong reply and brought life back into contest.
This time he played with an aggressive approach and confined his competitor in the rear court. He unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and ruled the court in the establishing rallies.
At mid-game break, both contenders were close on points table but then Andry played well in the second half and won this set with 21-19 score.
The decider was supposed to be a nerve-racking contest but it completely belonged to Andry who showed superior finishing skills.
He maintained an upper hand from very first stroke till the last one and swept the table with an overwhelming score of 21-13.
Now he will lock horns with Hilman to gain access to main round of Djarum Sirkuit Nasional Li Ning Jakarta Open.
