Andy Bichel expecting another high-scoring contest between Chennai and Bangalore – Cricket News Update
Chennai Super Kings' bowling coach, Andy Bichel, is hoping to witness another high-scoring contest when the defending champions play Royal Challengers Bangalore in their return-leg Indian Premier League fixture at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
While speaking to the media reporters on the eve of the crucial match, Bichel said that going with the nature of Chinnaswamy wicket and the star-studded top order of RCB, which includes likes of Chris Gayle, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Virat Kohli and in-form AB de Villiers, another high-scoring game is on the cards.
"Since RCB's batting looks heavy at top of the order fully packed with overseas players, I think it will come down to a nail-biting over,” said the Chennai Super Kings bowling coach at the pre-match press conference in Bangalore on Tuesday. “Hope we can win this [type of a game] again. It will be a high-scoring game as the history of Chinnaswamy wicket speaks thus," Bichel added further.
The last match played between the two outfits, at Chennai’s backyard, MA Chidambaram Stadium, was also a high scoring game in which the CSK chased down a colossal 206-run target with a last-ball four, plundering 43 runs off the final two overs.
Both sides share points on the table with four wins in seven outings so far, but Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings find themselves ahead of RCB on the standings, owing to their better net run-rate. However, donned in red, Daniel Vettori’s Royal Challengers will go into Wednesday’s game with three wins on the trot and will be high on confidence. Bichel also agreed that momentum was with the hosts.
"Yes, it's a challenge for us coming here and playing at RCB's home territory. They are a good side and there will be momentum."
Bichel also revealed that their overseas player, Albie Morkel, who missed the previous match against Royals because of the funeral of a close friend, is back and will be playing on Wednesday. He hoped Morkel’s return will lend more depth to their batting.
The CSK bowling coach also claimed that they have bowling plans up their sleeves for all batsmen.
“Tomorrow, we will devise a plan with bowlers and hopefully it comes off. A small window of opportunity [we should grab] and that is the thing about Twenty20," said Bichel.
