Andy Carroll could make his Liverpool debut against Manchester United
Liverpool’s January 2011 acquisition Andy Carroll looks set to make his debut for the Reds when Manchester United visit Anfield on 6 March, 2011.
Carroll had been sidelined for the past few months due to a thigh injury he sustained during his time as a Newcastle player. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has continuously stated that he is reluctant to utilise Carroll until he is absolutely sure that
the striker has recovered fully from his injuries.
But now, it seems that Dalglish is ready to unleash his new star.
Reports suggest that Andy Carroll will feature in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s Premier League encounter against archrivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds signed Carroll from Newcastle in the January transfer window for a whopping 35 million pounds- the highest transfer fee ever paid for an Englishman. Carroll was brought in to fill the void left by departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 from Anfield. If his
previous record is anything to go by, it seems that the England international is more than capable of taking Torres’ place at the front.
Carroll is one of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749’s most promising young talents, which would explain why Liverpool were so keen on securing his services. The striker has scored 11 goals in 19 Premier League appearances during his time with the Magpies; however, his scoring spree
was cut short by a thigh injury he sustained back in December 2010.
The Reds have waited almost two months before bringing Carroll into the fray once more. But now, it looks like the England international will finally make his Liverpool debut. To make things even more interesting, Carroll will be playing his first game in
a Liverpool shirt against bitter rivals Manchester United.
Fellow new arrival Luis Suarez will accompany Carroll at the front, and the combination of the two might just be too hot to handle for the Red Devils.
Liverpool are currently in sixth place in the League standings with 39 points.
