Andy Carroll loses fitness battle for Tottenham Hotspur match
Newcastle’s leading top scorer Andy Carroll would not be available for the Magpies clash against Tottenham Hotspur, the club has confirmed.
Carroll has not played for the side in the past four fixtures, which included last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland in the Wear-Tyne Derby. The player is suffering from a major thigh concern and would take no part in Sunday’s
game as well against the high flying Tottenham. His unavailability would shock and surprise most, as Tottenham are heavily linked to a move for the 22-year-old centre forward. Manager Alan Pardew wanted nothing more but play Carroll for this fixture in an
attempt to keep the striker at the current club. Carroll has already scored 11 times in the Premier League, just two short of the Manchester pair, Carlos Tevez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254.
The club has confirmed that the player would be available for the midfield battle against Fulham. Without their prime goal scorer, Newcastle have done fairly well as the side has managed two wins and one draw out of their 3 Premier
League fixtures. It was Shola Ameobi’s winning goal against Wigan Athletic and Leon Best’s remarkable hat trick against West Ham United that helped Newcastle register victory.
They lost just one match without him and it was the embarrassing 3-1 loss to Championship side Stevenage.
Carroll is an exciting young centre forward and he has performed on the highest level despite his young age. It was his brilliant performances for the side last season that helped Newcastle to get themselves back into the Premier
League. His performances in the top flight were limited in the previous season, but now he is considered as one of the favourites to win the golden boot award of the Premier League. Should Tottenham buy him, the side would become truly unstoppable. Carroll’s
heading ability along with his pace and agility is ideal for Spurs, who are currently playing their game in this manner. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 on the wings, who are known for their pinpoint crosses, Carroll would score almost at will and would
be a welcome signing for manager Harry Redknapp.
