New Aston Villa boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert has refused to rule out the possibility of signing Liverpool’s out of favour striker Andy Carroll. Lambert is keen on sealing a loan move for Carroll as he looks set to take charge of his new side.
Lambert confirmed yesterday that Andy Carroll is on his transfer wish-list, stating that he would prefer a loan move for the English striker.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 boss left Carrow Road for Villa Park after guiding his former team to Premier League promotion last season. Norwich City had an impressive campaign under Lambert and played some decent football as they survived the rigours of their first
season in the top flight.
Lambert offered his resignation following the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish from Villa Park, but Norwich did not accept his wish to leave. After a bust-up with the club, he finally left, having served as Norwich City manager for three years.
However, on 2nd June 2012, Aston Villa announced his appointment as the new  manager. The Scot’s resignation shocked many, considering the success he had with Norwich.
Now as new Aston Villa boss, Lambert is keen on making changes at the club and adding players to strengthen the squad.
Having already signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-El-Ahmadi-c20353 to the squad, Lambert is now believed to be focusing on bringing Andy Carroll to Villa Park on a season long loan.
The English striker has fallen out of favour at Anfield as new boss Brendan Rodgers does not deem him fitting into his brand of attacking and free flowing football.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lambert said:
"[Carroll is a] top player, there's no doubt he's a top player, and it wouldn't be one I would dismiss if it was there.”
However, when asked if he was working on the proposed transfer actively, Lambert replied:
"No. I obviously heard the teams that were linked with him, but that doesn't surprise me, the type of player he is."
"I've always said that the group need a hand. They need players to come in and give them a hand and we're trying to get them in.”
