Andy Carter bowled http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 to victory over Derbyshire
A terrific spell of bowling from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Friday, June 3rd, 2011. The hosts posted a solid target of
185 runs for the opposition, courtesy a sensational half-century from Australia’s, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380, who top scored the game with 60 runs.
Luke Sutton, who is the captain of Derbyshire, decided to field after winning the toss. The pitch was good for batting, but the visitors wanted to chase, as the conditions were expected to remain the same throughout the match.
Nottinghamshire got off to a flying start by the openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Voges-c925, who failed to make an impression
and returned to the pavilion after adding just 12 runs to the total.
Wessels also failed to capitalise on the start he got to his innings and was dismissed after scoring 30 runs from 19 deliveries with the hep of three fours and one towering six.
Nottinghamshire’s skipper, Hussey, didn’t waste much time and scored a quick fire fifty for his side, leading from the front. He ended up with 60 runs off just 45 balls, hitting five fours and one six. The star player also manoeuvred the ball in gaps nicely
and his running between the wickets was as amazing as ever.
Hussey got terrific support from his lower-order batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 and Chris Read, who managed 26 and 21 respectively, guiding the side’s total to 184 in the allotted 20 overs.
There was not much assistance for the Derbyshire bowlers in the wicket, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steffan-Jones-c2570 bowled well, picking up a couple of wickets in the match.
Derbyshire were given a very good start by their openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wes-Durston-c2789. Both players took the advantage of the first batting power-play, scoring runs at a very good pace.
However, Guptill got out after getting a start to his innings. He managed 25 runs from 19 deliveries with the help of five fours. This saw a collapse in the visitors’ innings, as wickets started to fall at regular intervals.
Durston top scored the innings with 46 runs, but he didn’t get much support from his team-mates apart from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Garry-Park-c1464, who remained unbeaten on 36 until the end of the innings.
Carter picked up four wickets, restricting the visitors to 146 in their allotted 20 overs.
