England’s head Coach, Andy Flower, anticipates that their left-handed opening batsman, Alastair Cook, will rise to the challenges of the limited overs format, as he is all set to command the Poms in their One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
The 26-year-old batsman could not impress the selectors for the World Cup Squad earlier this year and was categorized by most of the cricket gurus as a specialist Test batsman. However, the head Coach has high expectations from the new Skipper for the ODI
team and anticipates him to rise to the challenging new position.
The left-handed batsman has played only 26 ODIs since he joined the Poms back in 2006. Cook has not played an ODI for more than one year since the Poms have defeated Bangladesh by 3-0 last http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 and he was the captain of England during that series.
Flower revealed that he has enormous expectations for Alastair Cook as England Skipper. He added that Cook is a good Skipper, they have seen his captaincy in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 already and as a player he thinks that Cook will develop into a very fine ODI batsman.
"He is still http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the one-day game already and he has a one-day hundred to his name too - so he can play one-day cricket.”
England Coach also defended the current form of his Pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 who acquired just eight wickets during three Test matches against Sri Lanka.
Flower added that he does not actually think he bowled as some of the people have criticized.
"I think he would accept that he wasn't at his absolute best, but I really enjoyed the way he bowled on the fourth afternoon at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rose-c86842 Bowl. There was some real pace and bounce from him."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206, the wicketkeeper batsman has also made a comeback to the English ODI squad and got a warm welcome from the whole side.
England played their home series against Bangladesh in July 2010 and Kieswetter was not a part of that English team.
"Kieswetter has come back well, and we think he will be better for the time out of the side," said Flower.
