Andy Flower rubbishes claims that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 won’t feature in next month’s India-England Series – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362 has played down reports that the prolific middle-order batsman, Kevin Pietersen will not make the cut for England’s tour of India next month, insisting that the veteran will travel to the subcontinent to participate in the limited overs leg of
the itinerary.
Pietersen, the 31-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 this weekend. Pietersen has also been rested for the back to
back T20 Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at the end of this month.
Based on these news, the Surrey management claimed that the ace batsman was on an extended break and would not feature in the India-England series either.
Andy Flower however, rejected the claims, saying that Pietersen will travel to the subcontinent.
"That is not in our plan," said Flower adding, "I am not sure who in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 would make those judgments. They haven't come from me or the captain."
The England team director revealed that the reason behind resting the prolific batsman is that the veteran is nursing a wrist injury. However, he said that KP will be completely fit before the five-match One Day International series against India, commencing
on October 14, 2011, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792.
"It was a combination of injury and needing to rest," said Flower. "He was wearing strapping and had a cortisone injection that worked for a short period of time and then wore off. That wrist should be fine by now," he added further.
Flower expressed satisfaction over the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 in the recently concluded home series against India as his men sent the tourists back winless.
England toppled http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 as the World number one Test side with a 4-0 crushing in the Test series before getting past the World Champions on the ODI rankings table.
Whilst KP is expected to feature in the India series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 is also a doubtful starter for the itinerary, both of them struggling against injuries that they had sustained during the home series against
Dhoni and his men.
